ABx Group, an Australian company, is making big plans at its DL130 Bauxite Project in Tasmania.
They are ready to dig up an extra 1,000 tonnes of bauxite in the December quarter. This bauxite will come from a new pit and go to two customers. This news follows their announcement in the September quarter about a deal with Adelaide Brighton Cement (ABCL) to supply bauxite over five years.
ABCL is set to try out the bauxite material at their cement manufacturing site in Birkenhead. However, there are some delays with the mine lease application for DL130, pushing bauxite mining to the second quarter of 2024.
In Queensland, at the Sunrise Bauxite Project, survey reports for the Bundaberg port lease area will start in December. The application to adjust the site boundary at the Bundaberg port is being processed, and environmental studies at mine and port sites are on the company's schedule.
In Tasmania, ABx has a bauxite resource of 13.7 million tonnes across three deposits, and they aim to start exporting in the first half of 2025.
ABx Group focuses on rare earth elements, aluminium fluoride, and bauxite. In their latest quarterly report, ABx Group also mentioned a 30 per cent increase in their rare earth ionic adsorption clay asset in Tasmania. They have installed a new reactor in New South Wales, and they plan to exhibit at the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) in Sydney.
